Stage: functional recordings from myelinated circuits
For this internship project we are looking for master students with affinity and strong interest to make in vitro single-cell electrophysiological recordings combined with optogenetics. We will investigate cellular circuits in the cortex (or hippocampus) and perform functional characterizations of single neurons in combination with other techniques, such as immunofluorescence. The project will take advantage of a mouse line which has a genetic deficit in myelination. The long-term goal is to understand how myelin contributes to release dynamics, information processing in neural circuits to ultimately direct behavior. We are looking for students with previous demonstrated experience in one of the above mentioned techniques. Minimum duration of the internship is expected to be 5 months.
