Nora Jamann

PhD student

Over Nora

Nora obtained her MD degree in 2018 from the University of Heidelberg, Medical Faculty. For her MD thesis project, she studied the plasticity of the “axon initial segment”, the site of action potential generation in neurons. During that time, she fell in love with the power of using patch-clamp electrophysiology to answer fundamental questions in neuroscience. During her PhD, she is investigating how myelin, the insulating sheath around axons, contributes to fast and reliable signalling along long-range connections in the brain with novel tools such as optogenetics and Neuropixels probes.

In her free time, she can be most likely be found in one of the cities many boulder halls. Also, she enjoys exploring the cities many museums, bars, concerts and restaurants with friends.
