Over Tousif
There was a mind curious about minds. I was drawn to the brain not just as an organ, but as a living network — adapting, rewiring, learning. What began as a fascination with how experience shapes perception became a journey through the layers of plasticity, from molecules to cells to circuits. Along the way, I worked with various types of data, from gene expression to neuronal firing patterns — to uncover how sensory experience reshapes the brain’s internal architecture.
Now, in this chapter of my research journey, I’m diving into mathematical models of neuronal dynamics to explore how dynamic neural activity unfolds into meaningful behavior, particularly in the nuanced setting of social interaction. Capturing this complexity demands more than snapshots of brain signals, it requires approaches that can weave insights across multiple scales. That’s why I’m drawn to integrating diverse data sources, from the fine detail of neuronal activity to the broader patterns of functional connectivity, and grounding them in mathematical models that can capture and explain how the brain connects, adapts, and responds.
Fun Fact about me: I believe mutual information is more romantic than correlation
