Over Jake

How do objects in our environment give rise to neural activity that we become consciously aware of? Which brain areas, or networks of brain areas, are integral to our conscious perception? Are some brain areas more important than others in these processes?

Jake joins the institute from the United States where he conducted his Ph.D. studies at Vanderbilt University unraveling how salient objects in our environment grab our attention. As a member of the Roelfsema Group, Jake will further map how and where activity in the brain gives rise to our conscious perceptions through a combination of neuro-imaging, -physiology, and -stimulation techniques.
